I am determined to learn how to properly care for Isabella's hair. It has been a mystery to me since we adopted her. I have asked loads of questions, tried google searches.....I got a lot of advice, but not all of it necessarily good. Recently, I found two websites that have been tremendously helpful. www.happygirlhair.com and www.beadsbraidsbeyond.com (Buttons on my blog) I often have people ask me what I do to Bella Boo's hair, so here is our routine. I am hoping to adapt our routine as I learn more!
We started with a hot oil treatment. I warmed 1/4 cup of oil (a mixture of olive and coconut) and worked it into her dry hair. We put on a shower cap and then wrapped her head in a towel straight out of the dryer.
While coconut oil has many nutritional benefits, I have found it is great on hair and skin as well. I put some coconut oil on her hair a couple times a week for added moisture.
We spent the next 30 minutes reading Dr. Suess until it was time to rinse out the oil.
I read that it is good for kinky curly hair to "rest" once in awhile. I always have Bella's hair up in braids or twists so decided to sport the afro this week. I personally think it is just darling but don't leave it that way when we leave the house......I am quite afraid someone would stop me in public and say "Excuse me, but I think you forgot to do your daughter's hair." Bella likes her "fluffy" hair as she calls it.
www.beadsbraidsbeyond.com is having a giveaway on her website. Someone is going to win 3 full size Blended Cutie hair products....take a look at her website. She has the cutest little girl and does the darling-est things to her hair!
Never a dull moment with these crazy guys!!
