Staycation part 1...

Day 1: Changdeokgung Palace and Insadong
Day 2: Express Bus Terminal....and an attempt to go to a huge mall. It started raining and we were tired from the Bus Terminal, so we headed back home, donned our PJ's and had leftover Mother's Day cheesecake, some coffee, and watched a movie while it poured rain outside. :)
Day 3: Attempted to go to a traditional Hanok village, but ended up going to Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon.
Day 4: A catch up day....getting groceries and running some errands.

~~Changdeokgung~~

 Ma and Pa....

 You could get lost in this place....door here, door there...walls everywhere. :)

 Self portrait

Bella boo....with gaps and all. :)

Architecture...pretty architecture

What a silly goose!

What cuties!!!...I'm mainly talking about our 2 little ones ;)

lol....love it!
In Korea, in every picture, every person, from babies to older people, hold up two fingers while posing.

The cute little pizzeria where we had lunch

Being the gentleman he is

~~Express Bus Terminal and cozy afternoon.~~

I didn't take any pictures at the Express Bus Terminal. It was mainly just an indoor shopping plaza.

Our coffee and the best cheesecake in the WORLD!!!

Mama with manjoos. :)

~~Hwaseong Fortress~~
We've really been missing Dakota as we sightsee. He's been awesome about it all! :) We were excited to have him along to the fortress.
The Hwaseong Fortress, a defense wall, surrounding the center of Suwon, originally built back in the 1790's.

The millions of stairs await us....

Time to take a breather! How far have we gone?

Big bro

It was a lovely day to just walk the wall....

"Gonging" the 12 ton bell.

Ginormous!

The meanings of the "gongs" :)

I feel faraway from everything!

Some of Suwon

This is actually paper. It's a lantern they had set up getting ready for the Lotus Lantern Festival. Looks so real!!

~~Catch up day~~ Not recorded :)

We have a few more days before our staycation is over. We've been having a lot of fun having Dad around all the time, but now we miss Dakota. :(  We are looking forward to having him this next Tuesday. :)

God bless!
Have a great day, week, month, whatever....

Little bit of this, little bit of that....

Right now we are enjoying our stay-cation. Dad took leave for 2 weeks and we are doing day trips out of the house. So, we are having lots of fun!
Happenings of lately:
Dakota got a job at the commissary as a cashier. He's working at a base that is about 30 minutes away. We've been missing him a lot, but glad that he has work.
Bella lost 2 teeth....in less than 24 hours of each other. :)
Our garden is looking lovely.
...I believe that's about the extent of it.

 Out on a bike ride by the han river...

Bella the gap-girl. She lost her second bottom tooth the next day. :) Way to go!!

  He gets the royal treatment

 Mr. Cashier Dakota. :) Lookin' good....

 Our garden....There's actually a lot missing from this picture.....

Children's Day....

May 5th was Children's Day here in Korea, which is as big as Father's and Mother's day in the U.S. The Korean government provided free transportation for select military families out to the Horticulture Event (which is only put together once every three years) and lunch for the occasion. The Horticulture Event was really neat and well done. They had billions of flowers (literally, that's what they told us). It was one big huge botantical garden. :) They had an exhibit that displayed plants from all over the world. God is truly amazing with all the plants He made! Some of the most exotic plants and flowers I've ever seen.

The whole flower thing was part of the tour. I look pretty bland compared to the rest of the family. :) I did have flowers....I'm just holding them not wearing them. :) Dakota gets an A for awesomeness!
It is a custom to give out flowers on Children's Day. After this picture, we all headed to the courtyard to hand out flowers to Korean children. I think they found it quite amusing to have crazy, flower-clad, Americans giving them flowers.

These were one of my favorites....I had lots of favorites.

What a gorgeous purple!

Bella-boo (the crown she got on a date with Dad and was insistent on sporting it :) )

Daddy with his little girl

The ladies

Another one of my favorites. :) Looks like something out of Dr. Seuss.

I feel like a celebrity! The mayor wanted his picture with us....so these are all the people taking pictures of us and the mayor. Note: the name tags that say "press"...very cool! :)

Check out the "crinkleyness" of the petals. So beautiful!

After the bus dropped us off, we went over to check out the new static displays.

Kade loved it! He thought it was so cool to be climbing on these huge "humvees" (as he called them). :) (which it was...I mean...of course it's fun to climb all over military vehicles) They're so much bigger when you're trying to get up on one of them. :)

Below is a very detailed look at the very high affluent, 7 course lunch provided by the tour.
~~~~~
The lunch was very interesting. We aren't high class eaters. :) So, 7 courses of itsy bitsy items was out of our zone. But, the experience and memory was awesome. :)
Our little paper telling us what was going to be served next.
The "2 kinds of chips." Literally.....2 kinds...one of each kind. :)
The cold seafood soup. Note: the octopus. :/
He's not really taking to high class very well. :)
The aromatic appetizers.
Now, these were good. It was like fish sticks...only a better quality.
...And this was also pretty normal.
Yes, the whole lunch had stuff to do with flowers. :) Oh, and all these entrees were shared between 4 people. Dakota and I shared with another couple while Mom and Dad shared with the babies. Makes the portions even smaller. :)
Soup
Some sides...
Rice
You might be wondering what this is....It's dishwater. Ok, so it's not excatly dishwater. After they cook the rice in their big pot they take water and scrape out the pot (without soap) and then serve the water with the rice chunkies in it. Yah...pleasant. :P
The dessert. Now this wasn't shared between 4 people. :) They were good though.
We had a fun time and enjoyed getting out in the sun and observing the wonderful flowers!
That's all for now folks!
God bless!
