the greatest sacrifice...

He knelt praying in the middle of the night in a garden where He and His friends often went. He had told His friends, “Pray that you don’t fall into temptation.” His prayer was, “Father, if You are willing, let this cup pass from Me. But if this must happen, I will obey Your will.” And then He prayed more earnestly. His sweat became great drops of blood falling to ground.

Soon soldiers came to take Him. He was betrayed by a best friend into their hands. The gospel of John tells us that the guards asked for “Jesus of Nazareth.” When He answered, “I am He,” they were knocked to the ground by the power of His confession. Peter, another friend, tried to rescue Him by attacking one of the high priest’s servants and cutting off his ear. But Jesus rebuked Peter for his action, healed the servant’s ear, and submitted Himself to the soldiers. He could have easily escaped, but He chose to be obedient to His Father’s will.

He was taken before the high priest, where He was questioned and beaten. Then He was sent before the local government to be tried. The priests demanded that He be crucified because He had declared He was God. He was questioned again, but the governor could find no guilt in Him. Still, the others called for His crucifixion. The governor sent Him out to be whipped, hoping to appease the priests.

The rest of the morning He was whipped and beaten beyond recognition. A rope was placed over His bleeding back, left until the lacerations dried to the cloth, and then it was ripped from His shoulders, reopening all of the wounds. Then they draped it over Him to begin the process again. They mocked Him as the king of Jews and made a crown of one-inch thorns, forcing it onto His head until the blood covered His face.

Again He was brought before the governor. This time he didn’t ask the Pharisees and Sadducees, but he put it to the people, hoping they would show mercy on this innocent man. But the crowd called back, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” The governor washed his hands of the matter and turned Jesus of Nazareth of to the Roman guards for execution.

Jesus bore the weight of His own cross upon the torn flesh of His back and shoulders as He stumbled up the hill outside of the city. He was then nailed to that cross, raised up for all to see, and left there to die. The book of Matthew tells us He could have called twelve legions of angels to free Himself, but He didn’t. He knew His sacrifice would pay the price for all mankind to be set free from sin and have the right to stand with God.

He was buried in a borrowed tomb, but didn’t stay there long. On the third day He was resurrected from the dead, the keys of hell and death in His hands. He had paved the way for us to be born again, to become children of God, and to live forever with Him. (Taken from the book “Jesus freaks” by DCtalk and the Voice of the Martyrs)

Do you feel loved, cared for, and cherished? I hope so…you should. He did this for us and yet we still fail and sin against Him. That, my friends, is true unfailing love.

Ohio and Kentucky...

Yes, another trip. :) Seems like we've been everywhere this past month or so. That's the way summer is, I guess. :) The first part of the trip was the wedding. Johnny, my Dad's youngest brother, was the man of honor. We enjoyed seeing family and my grandpa which we haven't seen in quite some time. We had a lot of fun and it was such a cute wedding. Nikki, his bride, and Johnny looked at one another with such love and adoration, it was just too sweet. I just love weddings!

The church bells are ringing ;)
My dad, his siblings and parents.
The entire family...

Kentucky...
Kentucky was a family reunion. Every year for the past 17 years my Mom's Dad's side of the family has a get together around the 4th of July. We shoot fireworks, swim, hang out, and just have a good time. We missed the fireworks this year though...maybe next time. :) Anyway...we enjoyed seeing family on both sides in just a matter of days. That doesn't happen often.
This little man is incredibly cute!

I was so looking forward to home after all this time away. Home is much sweeter when you haven't seen it in awhile. :) It was a lot of driving but we had so much fun.

Have a wonderful week!

Vacation part 3..

Sorry guys..this is a very overdue post! The FL Keys were the last place we went on our vacation. We enjoyed it a lot. The crystal clear water, bright sun, beautiful coconut trees...It was a good visit, but wouldn't want to live there.

It was definitely a pretty place! God paints the world with such vibrant colors! I love it!

The waves just rocked them to sleep...

Snorkeling...day in and day out. Life underwater is just as magnificent as life above. We saw some amazing creatures. The one fish that was the highlight was the one that changed color to its surroundings...another point to a intelligent designer.

Can't get further south and still stay in the U.S. :)...on a clear night if you look towards Cuba you can see the lights of Havana.

birthday boy!

We have had a very busy life lately. trips, reunion, birthday....
K-man was the little man of honor. On June-22 he turned a big #1! It doesn't seem that long ago that we picked him up and cuddled him for the first time. He was 10 days old when we got him, and such a sweetie at that. He loves to be a big boy...with his big boy car seat and his big boy toys, he thinks he is something else. :) He is such a boy...trucks, dirt, messiness, lovable, and adorable. ;) We had to celebrate his birthday a little late because of Daddy's work schedule, but K-man loved it anyway. :) He did the normal turn-1-birthday with the cupcake on the face, seat, floor, hair, and everywhere else in between. We had fun watching him...and I'm sure he loved it! :)

awaiting the cupcake...I think its so cute how he smiles for the camera!

He is amazed :)..He looks like he doesn't know what to do with it..
but sooner or later he'll figure it out :)
I love this one! Bella came over to say happy birthday and this is what she got :) I love the expression! :)

have a blessed week!
