Daddy's B-day...and a bonus post :)

I am so thankful to have a Dad that loves the Lord and willingly follows him. A Dad that cares for and protects his family and not let them just blow away with the world. A Dad that loves, adores, provides, and protects his wife, and a Dad so gracious and kind. I just love him :)

posing with his gifts :)

and his cake :)

At the sound of this meal (shrimp, fries, and BBQ jalapeno poppers ) it doesn't sound to appealing..actually quite frankly it sounds pretty gross :)...but much to my surprise it was quite good!

The cake of Daddy's choice..instead of ice cream and cake...he likes ice cream cake :)

And Cheesy grinned K-man ready for it :) (you can see all his teeth in this pix)

P.S. those of you who are curious...Daddy turned 33 :)

Kressant's Shower
Mom wasn't at Kressant's shower...she was at the hospital with Bella :). It was held at the Davis' house (thanks! :) and they had everything so cutely decorated. (with, of course, Kressant's favorite colors: blue and yellow) It was quite lovely.

AH....the scrumptious food...
The little man of honor :)....watching his Mommy open all her gifts

Bella's hospital visit

This has nothing to do with Isabella's hospital visit, but I thought it was too cute :) Kade's first experience with McDonald's french fries. He prefers Chick Fil A.

After a visit to the ENT, the doctor didn't think he could remove the gems without putting Bella to sleep. One gem was just barely out of sight, the other was closer but not retrievable without much pain and trauma. :) I ask if we can't just pin her down and wrestle it out........He didn't think so. He sent us to the hospital to be admitted for the afternoon. Joel met me and the 3 of us watched old Bonanza reruns on TV Land until they took Bella back for the operation.

After the procedure, the doctor informed us that Bella tied his record. He discovered 3 gems in her ear, the highest number he has pulled out of toddler's head holes. It only took a few minutes and Bella woke up quickly. She was pampered with popsicles, apple juice and a wheelchair ride, her favorite part of the ordeal. She was pretty loopy the rest of the evening, but not in any pain. She did great!

Happy Birthday to the Love of My Life

Happy Birthday Joel!
Happy Birthday to my knight in shining armor, my life long love, my very bestest friend......the one who makes my heart sing and my feet dance. I love you and thank God each day that He gave me you.

If you were the cake, I'd be the ice cream.
If you were the peanut butter, I'd be the jelly.
If you were the macaroni, I'd be the cheese.

We just belong together.

**Does this suffice as a birthday card? I forgot to buy one :)

The Antics of a 3 year old

Will someone explain this to me? Why do toddlers feel a need to shove things inside their noses and ears? It seems to be a rite of passage for 3 year olds. Like somewhere, in some rule book, it says, "You may not turn 4 until you have shoved some foreign object in your nose or ear."

Somewhere between piano lessons and Wal Mart, Bella plucked a gemstone off her barrette and poked it inside her ear. She informs Kennedy that her ear hurts. Keni investigates and finds the offending object lodged deep within the recesses of Bella's ear. While getting my allergy shot, I ask the RN just how deep the eardrum is anyway. Why do I ask? she wonders. Why indeed. She peers inside the little hole and announces that I am going to need a doctor.....or a Water Pik system to blast it out. She also asks if I could blow in one ear and have it pop out the other.

With this child, I definitely could.

We decide to try the medical clinic on base. They don't take walk ins, but you never know. A kind soul may be working the desk. No such luck. They refer me to Urgent Care. I decide to try a bit at home first. There are lots of germs and cooties in those places.

We try tweezers. Nope.
We try nose sucker thingie. Nope.
We try a straw. Nope.
We try flushing it out with water. Nope.

The older two suggest a toothpick and glue.........or a vacuum cleaner. Don't worry we didn't try those two ideas.

Joel is on his way home. We decide to wait for him and his famous "Daddy operation."
Bella decides this is a good time to let us know there is another gem in her other ear. We look. Yep, sure is.

After several tries with several objects, lots of tears, Joel announces a trip to Urgent Care is in order.

Isabella is quite proud of her hospital bracelet. Not so amused with the DR, who did nothing but what we tried at home........and the gem is still firmly in place.
We get to go see an ENT tomorrow. Fun, fun.
I told Bella that God made holes in our bodies for a reason. They aren't hiding places for beads, pebbles and other such objects.
